When you think of your perfect man, you already have prepared a set of characteristics he simply MUST have.

First of all, he should be tall, broad-shouldered, handsome and probably dark-haired and bearded. He has to be this classic macho man who is strong enough to carry you in his arms, just like in the movies.

You imagine him being a little dominant but still very respectful and open to compromise. You want him to have the widest smile ever and a set of deep eyes you’ll get lost in every time you look at him.

When you see him, he’ll knock you right off your feet. It will be love at first sight. His scent, his face, the way he walks, and dresses; everything will be just like in your dreams.

You’ll get incredibly nervous once you maintain eye contact. It will feel like the butterflies in your stomach are throwing a party.

Just like that, you’ll know that this is it. This is the man you’ve spent all of your life waiting for.

Once you get to know him better, you’ll realize that he is romantic but not cheesy. He gives you the exact amount of attention you need without acting possessive and without boring you.

He is incredibly fun to be around but he is also a real man when it comes to serious issues. He is worried about losing you but he never has jealous outbursts.

Well, well, well… Wouldn’t this be perfect? But hey, I don’t blame you. Let’s face it, almost every woman’s type fits into this description.

I hate to burst your bubble but I’m not here to tell you how to win a guy like this over and I’m not here to give you hope that one of these days, he’ll come knocking on your door either.

Instead, I’m about to tell you something the complete opposite of what you want to hear. I’m here to put some sense in your head and ask you to forget all about this imaginary Mr. Perfect.

In fact, please forget about having a type of man completely. Give up on him because he’ll never appear.

Do it because it’s pointless. After all, who can guarantee you that this kind of guy is the one who has what it takes to make you happy?

You might find someone who encompasses each one of your fantasies. Nevertheless, that isn’t a guarantee of anything.

Instead, please, for a change, give all those men who don’t have to necessarily be your type a chance. Exit your comfort zone and try out something new.

No, I’m not advising you to jump from one relationship to another if that is not something you feel like doing. I’m just asking you not to be so firm about the type of man you see yourself next to.

Be honest, how many times have you rejected a seemingly nice guy? A guy who didn’t have any apparent flaws but didn’t have all the qualities from your checklist either?

Basically, you didn’t even give him a chance simply because he wasn’t your type. Well, why wouldn’t you try a different scenario? Why wouldn’t you take the opportunity and get to know a man like this?

After all, you can’t know that he is wrong for you until you open the doors of your life at least a little bit.

He might be the one who will know how to love you better than anyone else. He might be the one you’ve been waiting for your entire life, without even being aware of that.

Maybe this won’t be love at first sight. However, it will be something way better; a love story that will last a lifetime.

Maybe this man won’t give you butterflies and you won’t get lost in his eyes every time he looks at you. Nevertheless, he will make you feel like home and he will give you the sense of belonging we all crave.

Maybe he won’t give you the excitement you hope to experience. However, he’ll give you peace, which is something you might not want but certainly need.

I’ll be honest here; this man won’t be perfect. But, hey, neither are you.

At the end of the day, you’ll be perfectly imperfect together. After all, that’s what true love is all about.
